Across the Pond

Haven't been to London since High School. Fortunately had the opportunity to come to London once again compliments of my company for a meeting/training session. The event was held outside of London in the suburbs of Weybridge:

Since I was flying in from SF, there were limited times to arrive in London so I ended up coming in a day early. Coincidentally the Chen's (who's wedding I just attended in Austin) were ultra swift in their move abroad which happened to be to London so we were able to meet up. Tony had us meet up at this obscure restaurant outside of the Waterloo station. Imagine being in a city with no reception (found out I didn't have roaming enabled on my phone yet, why dubai?!), trying to find an obscure restaurant, with no map, and the person you're meeting doesn't have a phone yet either. Fortunately found free WIFI so I was able to find this restaurant and meet up with the Chens. Fun times. We spent most of the day playing tourist around the city, grubbed some Indian food and that evening I headed back to Weybridge before my company event.

We stayed at this hotel called The Brooklands. Pretty classy spot but it was in the middle of the burbs (I'm guessing to ensure some of the folks kept it tame). The consolation was that it was situated directly next to the Mercedes Benz World:

We had a few days of meetings and training. Got to meet a bunch of new folks in the EMEA organization who i'll be working with going forward and also got to see a bunch of familiar faces of colleagues from the US who were now working in EMEA (Stockholm, London, Singapore).

The best part of the event was by far the driving experience. A few shots of MB World:

We split up into groups of 3-4 people in each car. My group first did the offroading experience with a GL500.

We then hopped into an E500 AMG and hitup the track:

And then a wet circle for some Tokyo drift action:

Hooked on milk tea now.
