Not sure how nor why i forgot to post this post? But I just realized I had it as a draft...so posting a bit late (from Sept)
Kathryn and I finally got to take some time off from the craziness which has been the past several months. Between making the decision to move out to Dubai, preparing to leave, coming out here for about a month, going back to the US for the Chen wedding, then work travels along with getting the pad setup, it's been very hectic. We decided to take some time off to celebrate our birthdays in the Maldives (kathryn hates sharing her birthday with me ;), which is an archipelago off of Sri Lanka, south of India. The archipelago is made up of around 1200 islands, 90 or so are resorts. Each resort basically has it's own island. From the airport you basically take a speed boat to your island resort:
We stayed in a beach side room our first night. We were pretty pooped by the time we got in since we took a red eye through Sri Lanka so we spent the first day chillin, nappin, and snorkeling. Can't forget Kathryn's birthday either!
On our second day we engaged ourselves in a burdensome 1.5 hour spa & massage treatment:
On the 3rd day we went scuba diving for the first time. Never realized how amazingly different scuba diving was compared to even the nicest snorkeling reefs. We're definitely going to go and get scuba certified. The coral reefs and life down there was incredible, and the scale was almost overwhelming. Unfortunately wasn't able to capture any pictures under water since we didn't have a true underwater camera for that depth.
Every evening around 6pm the resort employees do a feeding where reef sharks, jack fish, sting rays, and even stork like birds get in on the action.
For my birthday we ate at Sea Salt where we grubbed on some fresh seafood along the beach.
